Two Kansas City Public Works Employees die after Highway Accident

On Tuesday, two employees of Kansas City Public Works perished in a crash on I-435 after a garbage truck overturned. The truck was approaching an exit ramp when it overturned and hit a concrete barrier, causing the truck to engulf in flames. The Kansas City Police Department reported that the employee died later that evening from injuries following the wreck. Another employee was pronounced dead at the scene. A third employee was injured in the wreck.

Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed his condolences on Twitter saying, “My heart breaks for his family, his friends, and our entire Kansas City Public Works Department”. Michael Shaw, Director of Public Works also expressed his sympathies at a press conference addressing the impact of the truck accident.
